Emails, texts and calls started coming in the moment LOCKDOWN was announced. Emotions were running high, expressing anxiety, fear, despair, hope, confusion and resolve. I am sure it is the same for you.
Encouragingly I find that the consensus is ..
- There is no returning to what was considered normal just a few weeks ago
- There is a new normal evolving and, like the virus the new normal is changing at speed and, so far, unpredictably
- We are adaptive and creative by nature
- We have the ability to follow through
- We can come through this
How?
Logic will get you from A to B, but imagination will take you anywhere.
Imagination often carries you to worlds that never were but can become. Without imagination you go nowhere.
The best way to cheer yourself up is to cheer up someone else.
There is nothing wrong with being nervous. What matters is what what you do with your nerves.
As your Coach, Mentor or Therapist, depending on what role you see me fulfilling in your situation, it is my role to assist as you overcome your nerves; find your strengths and overcome your obstacles – be objective, see things from new perspectives, check what can be done; what is within your scope, ability and power to change. And importantly how you can go about creating this change for yourself, on the inside, where it matters in your life.
First things first
Learn to observe the war of words in your head; between “yes I can” and “no I can’t”.
Establish order, cultivate peace and let that spread beyond your perceived limitations.
Accept yourself, reach out to others and realise that together we are stronger, able to create change that has substance and that we can be an inspiration to each other.
